Import dried apricots from Armenia
The apricot is Armenia's fruit: its Latin name, Prunus armeniaca, preserves that link. Until 2025, Russia took most Armenian fruit; it banned dried apricots in June 2026. Here is what a European buyer must check before ordering: duty, sanitary limits, labelling and documents.

Duty: from 5.6% to 0%, with no quota
Dried apricots fall under CN code 0813 10 00. They paid the full duty of 5.6% until 9 October 2026. From 10 October until 11 October 2028, they enter at 0%, with no volume limit, provided Armenian origin is proved.
On a pallet of 800 kg at EUR 6 per kilo, the saving exceeds EUR 270, since the customs value includes transport to the EU border. It is real, but it does not decide a deal: the quality of the lot and the strength of the file matter more.
The sanitary limits to meet
| Contaminant | Limit for dried apricots |
|---|---|
| Aflatoxin B1 | 2.0 µg/kg |
| Sum of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 | 4.0 µg/kg |
| Ochratoxin A | 2.0 µg/kg |
These are the limits in Regulation (EU) 2023/915 for dried fruit intended for direct consumption. They apply lot by lot: the desk requests analysis by an accredited laboratory before any commercial sample, and the report accompanies each lot.
Armenia is not on the list of countries subject to increased import controls (Regulation 2019/1793), which includes several Turkish, Georgian or Iranian products. An Armenian lot therefore undergoes ordinary checks on entry into the EU.
Sulphured or unsulphured: what the label says
Dried apricots are often treated with sulphur dioxide, which preserves their orange colour; unsulphured, they are brown. Above 10 mg/kg expressed as SO2, sulphites must be declared as an allergen on the label.
The European buyer is the importer of record: they are responsible for the label in the language of the country of sale (Regulation 1169/2011). The desk sends them the technical sheet for the lot so they can prepare it.
The documents for a lot
- The producer's commercial invoice, FCA Yerevan.
- Proof of origin: an EUR.1 certificate or an origin declaration on the invoice. See Proving Armenian origin.
- The laboratory analysis report for the lot: aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, sulphites.
- The technical sheet: variety, size, moisture, treatment, harvest year.
- The transport document (CMR for road transport).
What the catalog shows
The dried apricot listing shows the shape of an offer: the variety, 10 kg boxes, a minimum of one pallet, an indicative FCA Yerevan price. It remains illustrative until the first producer has been checked: request figures for an actual lot when you book a call.
